I hope it's not a charter violation to ask for help with work. I need to record a soundscape with a babbling brook or creek. I happen to have El Cerrito Creek literally in my back yard. But the client wants water and, perhaps, birds, not BART trains and leaf blowers. I know that at least some of you are avid hikers around here. Any idea of a place close by (perhaps in Tilden?) that would have a stream with some water in it this long after rain, and not too close to the noise pollution of motorized simians?

Thanks.

Not a problem at all, Craig.

I would suggest around Jewel Lake in Tilden Park for birdsong. And there may be some water flowing down the creek below the dam or above the Little Farm—albeit unlikely. I can't think of many creeks in the area that are flowing right now, especially in a babbling kind of way.

There's always Freesound.org:

You might composite several sources to get what you want.

The schedule may force me to freesound, but I’ll check out Jewel. Thanks!

Craig,

Kate and I just took a walk along Wildcat Gorge in Tilden Park—the path starts in the parking area by the big green field just south of the tennis courts. You can find it on a map. There is a place, about .2 miles up the path, where we did hear a bit of babbling. Just a little. It's on the other side of a fence—the watershed is protected. So, if you go, you should probably go early, and be discrete.
