Actually, maps aren't so hard—well, most geopolitical maps, anyway. But geopolitical boundaries? Those can be very hard. There are lots and lots of enclaves, at all levels: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_enclaves_and_exclaves. Know anybody who lives in Piedmont? And Ellis Island is an enclave of the City of New York being that it is completely surrounded by the State of New Jersey.

I used to. A friend has a house that straddles the border as well. The stove was in Piedmont, the dining table in Oakland.
