The FTC smacked down Warner Bros. yesterday after it was revealed that the company paid to positively review a new video game. But it's nothing new. There are folks out there raking in megabucks annually in exchange for their good words. 

Extrapolating, the future of journalism doesn't look good at all, VNRs and the like already notwithstanding.
