Aloha,

Most people associate Mai Tais with sitting on the beach and watching Polynesian sunsets while listening to music like this: http://tikiradio.com. Oh and tiny beach umbrellas.

Well, you'll have to fly to the South Pacific if you want those sunsets. But you'll be certainly be able to sip a Mai Tai, complete with a tiny beach umbrella—and probably listen to slack key guitar music—at our next Ipse Dixit dinner: Thursday, June 30th, at Trader Vic's in Emeryville.

Factoid: "Trader" Vic Bergeron, who created the Trader Vic's chain of restaurants and lounges, claims to have invented the Mai Tai at his original San Francisco restaurant in 1944.

A hui kaua

P.S. Reservations are a good idea for larger groups, so please let me know if you are planning to attend. Mahalo nui loa. (I was surprised and pleased to find out that Google's spell-check recognizes at least some Hawaiian.)
