The Desert Sun reports that Lake Mead has declined to its lowest level in history.
This could put serious stress on the senior/junior water rights system we are currently burdened with. If you add in the compact with Mexico to restore flow levels to save the delta, this could become a nasty situation.
Paolo Bacigalupi's SF Novel The Water Knife is a fine read examining the logical extremes of the potential battles over water rights in a near future scenario. Not for the squeamish though.
