Dear All,
Our individual communication with different teams shows that some of
you managed to create m1.large instances (they are previous
generation instances, and they are still available if one digs a bit
dipper in the Amazon web-site - thanks Andrey for checking all this)
whereas some other teams have migrated to m3.large already.
I believe that we should all use m3.large instances because:
m3.large has
Latest Intel Xeon Processor and offers better CPU performance than
m1.large instances, and m3.large has better I/O performance.
Considering these facts, I believe it would be wise to use the
following settings during our final competition:
1) m3.large (we can have up to 32GB disk space there)
2) please create your instance in the Virginia Region (us-east)
3) also, please select
Availability zone: us-east-1c - there are 3 to choose from (1a, 1b
and 1c), please choose 1c if available - you can do it in Step 3:
Configure Instance Details where you have an option to select a
subnet; I do not think that it matters a lot but let's all be in the
same subnet
Please accept my apology if moving to m3.large means more work for
you, but considering the fact that m3 are faster, it is hopefully a
good idea.
Cheers,
Marek
