Dear Gwendolyn, 2014 Argonne Regional Middle School Science Bowl hosted by Argonne National Laboratory Argonne National Laboratory, based in Argonne, IL, is seeking middle school students who wish to test their science and math knowledge while building a screaming-fast battery-powered car to participate in Argonne's Regional Science Bowl Program. These competitions reflect the deep knowledge and acumen that the scientists and engineers at Argonne routinely use in their work. See the event details below. Academic Competition The Academic Competition takes place Friday, February 7, and Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Argonne National Laboratory, Advanced Photon Source, 9700 South Cass Avenue, Lemont, IL 60439. The winning team will advance to the National Competition in Washington D.C, April 24-28, 2014. Electric Car Challenge The Electric Car Challenge takes place Saturday, April 5, 2014 (tentative) and will be held at Case New Holland (CNH), 6900 Veterans Boulevard, Burr Ridge, IL 60527. There will be a maximum of one team per school. By Monday, January 20, 2014, each approved team will receive a free regulation Li-battery kit (a lithium battery, charger, battery holder and motor).
