Invalid Character File - Possible to get a more detailed error message?

I'm working on a piece of software that should ideally be able to export compatible .dnd4e files.
I've got to a point where the DDI tools are able to read these files, but iPlay4e is complaining that they're invalid.
Is there a way to get more detailed error messages as to why iPlay4e disagrees with my output, so I can attempt to fix the exporter?
