The IPKat is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for GuestKat positions and looking for IP enthusiasts to fill InternKat roles. Book Launch: Intellectual Property and Cannabis.

On 2 September 2025, the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) of Queen Mary University of London will host a book launch for ‘Intellectual Property and Cannabis’. The title explores the intersection between IP and cannabis from a legal, cultural, and socio-economic perspective. Further details are here.

The Copyright Society’s International Conference.

The Copyright Society will hold its International Conference in Dublin from 19 to 21 October 2025. The event will address, inter alia, cross-border copyright transactions, generative AI, ownership, infringement, and extraterritoriality. More information is available here.

Opportunities

G. C. O'Donnell Essay Prize.

The Trustees of the G.C O’Donnell Biennial Prize Trust are seeking submissions for the 2025 G.C O’Donnell Copyright Essay Prize. Papers covering any topic related to copyright and the protection of the interests of creators may be submitted no later than 19 October 2025. The prize is $3,500 and will be awarded at an event in Melbourne. Further details here.

USCO: Copyright bound historical record volumes digitization.

The U.S. Copyright Office (USCO) has released a new set of 100 digitized bound historical record volumes, bringing the total number of volumes online to over 17,873. The Copyright Historical Record Books collection contains copyright records such as registration, renewals, assignments, notices of use of musical compositions, and other related documents. WIPO: World Intangible Investment Highlights.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in partnership with the Luiss Business School (LBS), has released the second edition of the ‘World Intangible Investment Highlights’ (WIIH). This annual publication provides comprehensive data on investment across diverse intangible assets (e.g., patents, trademarks), aiming to support evidence-based policymaking. The 2025 edition highlights that intangible investment has grown over three times faster since 2008, despite economic and business challenges.
