The Katfriends at ERA in Trier are always busy preparing and running events covering the latest developments in the field of European Union law, including IP and copyright.

And speaking of copyright, the Annual Conference on European Copyright Law is returning online in the mornings (CET time zone) of 26 to 28 November 2025. Like in previous years, I will be there too.

This annual conference intends to update IP lawyers on the ongoing EU initiatives and recent case law adopted by the Court of Justice of the European Union in the field of copyright law. Specific focus will be given to copyright in the context of digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI).

Key topics of this year’s edition are:

The conference is international in nature and reach. Last year, over 50 participants connecting from all over Europe attended. The selection of speakers is also very international and diverse, with input being provided from the European Commission, private practice, stakeholders, and the most influential academics. Overall, the programme offers a comprehensive analysis of most recent developments and contentious issues in EU copyright.
