The Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) at Bournemouth University is delighted to host, for the third consecutive year, a Summer School on Intellectual Property, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The Summer School will run fully online (via Teams) for two weeks, from 31 August to 11 September. By successfully completing the course, delegates will receive a certificate from WIPO.

The two-week programme will cover patents, copyright, trade marks and designs as they relate to contemporary issues. The programme will also provide insights into geographical indications, IP and tax and IP strategy amongst others. In particular, the programme will cover topical issues such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and mass digitization, robotics, deepfake technology, immersive environments, video games, fashion, outer space and tattoos as they relate to IP rights. There will be a special session on the ‘The Legal Lives of Anne Frank’s Diaries’ which will explore how copyright responds to private lives when they intersect with the public domain.

Delegates will be divided into groups on the first day of the Summer School and will be encouraged and supported to interact and engage with each other to work on a topic of their choice within the group they have been assigned. On the final day of the Summer School, delegates will be given the opportunity to present their Group Reports and share their knowledge and research on their chosen topic.

The Summer School will be delivered by IP experts drawn from CIPPM and WIPO with input from a broad array of academics and practitioners drawn from various countries including the UK, EU, USA, Japan, Australia, and Brazil amongst others.

The WIPO-UK Summer School on IP Law is open to senior students (graduates and postgraduate students) and junior professionals in the field of IP or any field of study or discipline. It also provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with delegates and speakers from around the world.

If you would like to participate in the Summer School, please indicate your interest by completing this short form, following which you will be sent further information on how to apply.

The registration fee for the two-week summer school is dependent on whether a delegate is from a developing or developed country and whether you are a student or professional. For students and professionals from developing countries, the registration fee is £75 or £150 respectively, whilst the fee for students and professionals from developed countries is £250 and £400 respectively.

CIPPM is delighted to offer IPKat readers an exclusive discount of 20% on the registration fee. When completing the form to indicate your interest, please quote ‘Loyal Kat’ in the ‘any other comment’ box and we will send you a unique code which you can use to claim your 20% discount when registering.
