The Katfriends at ERA in Trier (Germany's oldest city) are always busy organizing and running popular events in all areas of EU law, including IP and IT law. This time, they would like to bring to IPKat readers' attention their Summer Course on AI, Digital and Information Technology Law, which will run online in live format between 7 and 11 September (morning time, CEST time zone).

This summer course intends to provide participants with a thorough introduction to European IT law and digital law. The focus of the programme will be emerging technologies, including AI and Internet of Things, and EU initiatives on access to data in the digital environment.

The key topics on the agenda are:
  • The legal and institutional framework of EU digital and IT law
  • AI legal framework and liability issues in the EU
  • E-commerce in the EU legal order and role of online intermediaries
  • Blockchain and smart contracts
  • Data economy
  • IP law in the digital world
  • Protection of electronic networks and cybersecurity
  • DSA and DMA
Speakers and lecturers come from legal practice and academia and participants will have an opportunity to engage in discussions with them and fellow attendees, and have all their questions answered.

As always, The IPKat has negotiated a special discount for its readers. IPKat readers are in fact entitled to a 20% discount using VIP code IPKAT2026ERA at checkout (it can be combined with the early bird discount where applicable).
