ChIPs: 2026 Europe Summit.

The 6th Annual ChIPs European Summit will take place on 19 November 2026 in Lisbon. This year's theme is ‘At the Edge: Leadership for an Intelligent Age’. The event will bring together judges, industry leaders, and practitioners to address leading the transition from the Information Age to the Age of Intelligence. Further details here.

Call for Papers: 24th ACEI International Conference on Cultural Economics.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Urban Creativity Network are seeking submissions for the 24th ACEI International Conference on Cultural Economics, to be held next year (exact date to be confirmed), in Bogotá. The event is hosted by the National University of Colombia and co-organized with the Association for Cultural Economics International. The selected papers will be presented in a street art session at the conference. WIPO will provide travel and accommodation support for researchers from developing countries. More information here.


Other developments

EUIPO: First registered EU designs represented in video and 3D formats.

Following the final stage of implementing the new EU design legal framework (which became fully applicable as of 1 July 2026), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has published the first registered EU designs represented in video and 3D formats. The Office highlighted that the new rules provide greater flexibility in representing designs as users experience them and that, during the first half of July, 37 design applications were filed using video and 20 using 3D formats. WIPO: Innovation Capabilities Navigator.

WIPO has launched the Innovation Capabilities Navigator tool, an interactive dashboard featuring profiles for over 190 economies across science, technology, production and entrepreneurship. The tool maps big data from patents, trademarks, publications and exports. It outlines innovation strengths and compares each economy’s capabilities today with where they stood 10 years ago, providing insights into growth opportunities and economic diversification, which make it particularly appealing to policymakers and industry leaders.
