Help with default behavior of Multiple Select element

Is there an attribute I can add to my multi select control that will
change the default label that the iphone uses when multiple items are
selected?

I want to change the default label when multiple items are selected.
The iphone says "1 Item" or "2 Items". Can I change the label from
"Items" to something else?

I dont think you can - didnt know that you can select more than one
item though! You could use checkboxes instead but that depends on your
usecase!
