Our Annual Dinner held at the Royal Overseas League was a great success.  Although the attendance of 80 was creditable, the figure would have been much larger if 90% of those applying for visas had not been rejected.

This begs the question of whether the Home Office is institutionally racialist.  We intend to find out.  We sent the following email to the Visa Section of the Home Office:

According to your excellent website the percentage of visas given is very high. These figures contrasts with our experience in that less than 10% of visas were given in respect of a meeting in London. All the intended participants were black. Is there a big difference in the percentages for black applicants?

We have elicited the following response:

No such statistics are kept but I can offer a firm assurance that each visa application is considered solely on its own merits in accordance with the Immigration Rules.  These preclude discrimination in any form - all applications are assessed on a level playing-field.

If you wish us to look into the specific example that you have mentioned, I shall need the following details for each of the participants who were refused:

-  Full name of the visa applicant

-  Date of birth of the applicant

-  Where applied for the visa

-  Any reference number given by the Visa Section

Please attach this exchange of messages to your reply for ease of reference.

If you applied for a visa and were rejected please let us have the required details.   The more 'noise' we make the greater the chance that future applications will be accepted.
