Any idea if/when java 12+ will be supported?

We already have a branch (https://github.com/oehf/ipf/tree/184-branch) that builds with and supports Java 11. This will be the basis of IPF 4.0.

If you like, you can check it out and give it a try...

The plan is to have some milestone/rc towards the end of the year, but I consider upgrading to Camel 3.0 as well (which is not done yet).
