Invitation to the IPE Øresund Network’s PhD Day 2025
Dear all,
You are hereby invited to join a meeting of the IPE Øresund Network on December 17th, 12:00 to 17:00 (with optional dinner in the evening). CBS Department of Organization has kindly allocated some funds for a meeting of the network. This year, we thought we should give PhD students a chance to present their projects (or individual papers/chapters) to network members. The purpose would be to practice presenting your project to a friendly crowd, get some feedback, and meet your colleagues in the region.
Time and place: Dec 17, 12:00 to 17:00, Kilen building at CBS campus, room 2.53, optional dinner in the evening at place TBD.
Format: short presentations (length depends on number of participants), no papers are expected.
Scope: Primarily for scholars working within political economy broadly understood (IPE, CPE, etc.) and open also to IPE-adjacent work especially within the themes of climate, biodiversity, environment, etc. Presentation slots reserved for PhD students, but we really want postdocs and senior staff to also join to meet your new colleagues and catch up with old ones.
How to sign up:
Deadline for sign-ups: Dec 1, 2025
Feel free to share and forward the invitation. Program will be circulated a few days after the deadline. Any other questions? Email Jacob (jha...@cbs.dk).
We expect to cover lunch and dinner (all catering will be vegan/vegetarian), plus reimburse train travel within the Øresund region (everyone is welcome, but we have limited funds to cover travel and cannot reimburse accommodation).
We hope to see as many of you as possible!
Best wishes from the organizing committee: Maxine Mölgen, Andreas Engelund, Jacob Hasselbalch

Dear colleagues,
This Friday, November 14th, at 9:00 CET, a public defence of my doctoral dissertation titled ”Deconstructing Security Discourse in Circular Economy Governance: Towards an Inclusive Approach to Circular Transformation” will take place at the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University in hall V:A, John Ericssons väg 1, Lund, Sweden. The faculty opponent is Dr Patrick Schröder, a Senior Research Fellow at the Environment and Society Centre of Chatham House, UK.
Drawing on a conceptual background from environmental studies, sustainability transition, innovation, and critical security studies, my thesis explores the role of security discourse in shaping prioritisation among circular solutions to sustainability challenges and explains the connections between security discourse and implications of circular governance. The thesis is available at: https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/publications/deconstructing-security-discourse-in-circular-economy-governance-/
The defence will be streamed via Zoom link: https://lu-se.zoom.us/j/66258668026. Welcome to join!
