Is there a plan that both Israelis & Palestinians would support?
Help us develop such plans!
Monday, November 28, 2011 14:00-20:00
Ambassador Hotel, Jerusalem
The “two state principle” is widely accepted as “the solution” to the
Palestinian/Israeli conflict yet no specific plan based on this principle
has ever been accepted by the majority of Palestinians and Israelis. Recent
speeches by PM Netanyahu and President Abbas indicate that even the leaders
are far from agreeing on a concrete plan.
The “Arab Spring,” has made it clear that a viable peace plan has to have
popular support on both sides to effectively and legitimately contain
hard-liners opposing it. Formal approval of a plan by governments alone may
be legally sufficient but won’t secure long term peace. Thus, the question
becomes: “Are there specific plans that the majority of Israelis and
Palestinians can come to support in a stable and sustainable manner?”
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Ramallah office) The Free Muslim’s
Coalition’s Task Force on Israel/Palestine and the Israel/Palestine Center
for Research and Information invite you to a conference in Jerusalem where
we will launch a project to answer this question, hopefully in the
affirmative.
Please join us for an exciting event and help us formulate plans for
improving the lives of Palestinians and Israelis.
Representatives of governments, NGO’s, political parties, research
institutes and think tanks are especially encouraged to participate.
1. If you are an Israeli or a Palestinian and want to provide feedback
on the plans, please contact us as soon as possible! Space is limited and
priority will be given to those who represent the diversity of the wider
population, including hardliners and peace skeptics.
2. If you have a specific plan, please apply to present it. We welcome
all specific plans.
3. If you want to participate, or if you want to help our efforts or
just curious, please register as soon as possible, as seats are limited.
