Get engaged in IPBES!

Welcome to the Network for IPBES Stakeholders! The Stakeholder Network aims at bringing together all persons and groups interested in the process of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service (IPBES). Everyone interested in advancing the involvement of scientists, conservation organizations, businesses and other civil society actors in IPBES is welcome to ask questions, share experiences, post relevant news and exchange opinions. So far, most information are posted in English. Thus, we are very grateful to every voluntary translation by interested network members.

The Stakeholder Network is an initative from knowledge holders for knowledge holders in the IPBES context and is moderated by a group of volunteers from different organisations and networks. For official information on IPBES, please visit ipbes.net or contact the IPBES secretariat (secretariat[a]ipbes.net).

The self-organized web-based open IPBES Engagement Network was set up by a group of knowledge holders after IPBES-2, since they saw an urgent need to share information, to mobilize stakeholders and knowledge holders and to discuss how they could best be engaged in the IPBES process.

Aim of the Network for IPBES Stakeholders and its communication channels/groups:

•    Linking people interested in the IPBES process, its developments, products and outcomes
•    Posting up-to-date information on the IPBES and related national and international processes
•    Facilitating information exchange and dissemination
•    Fostering discussions
•    Facilitating the ongoing development of an self-organized and inclusive open-ended  Stakeholder Network as suggested by the coordinated stakeholder group at IPBES-3 and recognized in the adopted
     Stakeholder Engagement Strategy (IPBES/3/L.15)
•    Supporting capacity building and mutual understanding

The Stakeholder Network is also present on Facebook. The Twitter Accounts @ONet_IPBES and @Biodiv_SPIs are collecting tweets and information on IPBES as well. If you are interested in research dealing with IPBES or other Science-Policy Interfaces, you can join the LinkedIn group IPBES research or visit the google group of the young scientist network BSPIN Biodiversity Science-Policy-Interfaces Network.

You can follow the group online, but to post you need to sign up (Click on the blue button at the top).  If you don't have an google mail address, please send a mail to timpte[a]biodiv.de and to kristina.raab[a]ufz.de to request an invitation to the group.
