I have shared several apps for screencasting for a while now. Screencasting is the action of capturing the still or video images from your computer or iPad and having the ability to share it with others later. This is or can be one part of having a Flipped Classroom or Blended Learning environment.
I have shared ScreenChomper, Educreations, and ShowMe. These are iPad apps that make it easy to capture the activity onscreen and play it for someone at a later time. Of those, Educreations does seem to be the easiest to get started with and does a nice job.
This week, at the Texas Computer Educators Association conference (TCEA), I came away with a new option. I really like Knowmia's Teach app. (
http://knowmia.com) . The app is free and has a few more nice features. It will let the teacher create an inset video of them while they teach the lesson, it has a floating laser pointer option, and you can post up your videos online for students to see at home. I got started easily and very quickly had a lesson prepared that included my drawing, photos pulled in from my iPad, and an inset video of my mug. This one is probably my number one or two screencasting choice now. Yes!!
