A teacher friend shared this on his Facebook last night. (Yes, that's a plug for building your online PLN - Professional Learning Network.) I use some of these apps already and like them for Digital Storytelling.
What's a talking avatar? It's an animated cartoon or photo that talks using words you either type or speak into the app. Some of these are very fun and/or creepy. (Love Morfo, but it's makes a photo-realistic animated avatar from a still picture. Looks creeepy!) A couple of the apps in the list (Gabit and Yakit) are iPhone apps, which is great for a BYOD campus! Most on the list are free.
Why? Tired of the same old paper bios of the presidents? Upload a photo or create a cartoon depiction of a president. Make him give a short speech about his achievements. Make Darwin explain his own theory.
Listed on iTunes as free today only (Friday Aug 30): iFunFace Pro. There is a free version which just doesn't have the fancy accessories.
