Request to participants and listeners

Hey folks,

You realize that #vuc500 will be upon us in August? We're still having
a great time, better than ever in my opinion. I have no idea if anyone
reads these emails, but here's a request to help keep the lights on.

We are lucky to have a few sponsors who appreciate a "thank you" in
the beginning and end of the sessions, no ad reads in the middle. I
would never do an ad read in the middle of a VUC, unless someone came
up to me and said, "Do one ad read in the middle of VUC and I will
eliminate poverty and hunger immediately, and cure depression as a
bonus." In that case I might do one ad read. Otherwise it's not gonna
happen. We sometimes have requests from potential sponsors, but that
list needs to be short or the "thank you" list gets way too long.

So if you like VUC, and I hope you do, here's my request: When you buy
stuff at Amazon, go first to http://vuc.me and click on the Amazon
banner. It may land you in electronics or cameras, but regardless of
where you land, it will put a cookie in your browser that says "we'll
pay VUC founder a small commission for whatever you buy from us." It
costs you nothing, and the pennies add up to pay costs.

Also, if you happen to be on LinkedIn and we're not connected, we
should be, and here's why: I love to keep track of people I know
online, and I know a lot of very smart, competent people from VUC. My
LinkedIn contacts are 99% VoIP, security and tech. I use it as a
professional directory, not a social network. What's good is, I get to
see what folks are doing, and just yesterday I got a message about
congratulating someone on their new job at Google. I sent a brief
congrat message and the young guy said "it's a dream come true!". I
did not have anything to do with him getting the job, but I know that
the VUC has brought people together in a way that someone hired
someone based on that "virtual meeting".

Hey is this a novel, or what? My greatest pleasure is bringing people
together and of course meeting many of those who have participated in
VUC over the years. I'm looking forward to TADhack in Madrid June 6-7
and will be meeting with a few recent guests and listeners there. If
you're in or near Spain and want to come to TADhack, write me and I'll
try to get you a pass. If you click on the Amazon banner! (No I'm
kidding, I can't tell who click on it.) Write me for TADhack, I can
help with that.
