First of all, I have no background in electricity or electronics.
Most of what I know, I have learned in the last couple of months. I
am trying to find a good book to help me increase my knowledge.
Currently, I am reading Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics,
Fourth Edition. While I have learned from this book, it just doesn't
go into the detail that I need, nor does it supply examples and
practical applications.

Any recommendations for a good intro to electronics book?

Cheers,
Randle

The Forrest Mims series have been friends to a whole generation
of electronics hobbiests. Used to be sold by Radio Shack, now on
Amazon.

I'll attest to that. I got two of his books with my Electronics learning Lab from Radio Shack (just "The Shack" now I suppose) and they have been great. Very light on exposition (to a fault at times), but great detail and working practical examples.

On a side note, did anyone see the article about Mims' daughter. She just did an experiment for a high school science class about how spores can ride smoke laden winds across great distances. The story has been featured on several prominent web sites including a NASA site and science journals.
