Conference Registration now open!

Dear Mentoring Programs,

Registration for the annual Iowa Conference on Volunteer Service is now open!

The Iowa Mentoring Partnership is bringing in the Search Institute to conduct a 3-part training for mentoring programs on how mentors can help develop the 40 Developmental Assets within their mentees. The conference will take place on Nov. 13th and 14th at Prairie Meadows conference center in Altoona (just east of Des Moines), with the mentor training taking place on the first day. There will also be great training opportunities on the second day of the conference around non-profit and volunteer management which would apply to mentoring programs as well. Susan Ellis, an expert on volunteer management, will be providing the keynote on the second day as well. We are also working on putting together a "Mentor Reception" after the first day of the conference where mentoring programs will have the opportunity to meet their colleagues from around the state.

The IMP is sponsoring one person from each certified mentoring program to attend the conference for free (normally $130), additionally the IMP will cover the cost of a one-night stay at Adventureland Hotel next to the conference center for the person attending the conference. To receive the free hotel room you must register by October 11 since that is when the block of rooms we have reserved will open to the public. I hope to see everyone at this great event!
