Dear Iowa Providers:

From time-to-time, board members from the Iowa Mentoring Partnership Provider Board will be posting discussion items on the google group network.  This will be a time to give your ideas and hopes to be a time of gaining support and sharing new strategies.

An item that came up at our Regional Meeting in August is one I am interested in gaining ideas on.  That is the idea of sustainability of matches.  This is not about how do we keep our programs funded, but how do we support our mentor/mentee matches.  I will begin the discussion with a few questions to our google group and hope that there are active responses:

  • How does your program offer support to the mentor/mentee match? 
  • Do you offer newsletters to communicate events and trainings? 


  • Does your program have staff or volunteers who make phone calls on a monthly basis to check-in?


  • What are other forms of support you provide for program participants?
  • What kind of recognition do you have for mentors?

I do not have a staff member to do the calling. I have to do it
myself. Sometimes that is hard to find the time to do that.
