Thank you for being willing to pass this on yo your emai list!

As I explained, the Iowa Green Party is trying - last ditch effort - to get the Green presidential candidate, JIll Stein - https://www.jillstein2024.com/ - , on the Iowa presidential ballot.  The state legislature enacted requirements that made the usual petitioning effort virtually impossible.  We decided to try what the Libertarians managed a few years ago: designating a highly-traveled area our convention site for a day, and hoping to gather the signatures required for a convention nomination there.  This might not work at all, but it's the one chance we may still have. if we can get 500 signatures (500 apiece for both presidential and vice-presidential candidates) that day.

takes place in Des Moines August 23-25.    

Some of us had the idea to establish a small convention site just outside the perimeter near the Des Moines Sculpture Park on Friday, August 23,  and hope to collect the needed convention signatures that day.  That woudl give us one day, maybe a little more, to eet the filing deadline.

It qas suggested that you might know people in Veterans for Peace and the Catholic Workers who might be willing to help out by being at the convention site (likely a coffee table) and helping to collect signatures.  

AS an "incentive" - one of our members noted that " every 2024 POTUS candidate has been asked by the Warheads to Windmills coalition to sign a pledge that, when they take office, they will sign the USA onto the UN Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Only one candidate has thus far taken the pledge: Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party, (who just this weekend became the Green Party POTUS nominee for the 2024 presidential election ).
