Good morning, all!
The Iowa State University Digital Press is excited to announce the publication of two open textbooks:
Crop Genetics
Authoring team: Walter
Suza & Kendall Lamkey (Eds); William Beavis; Arden Campbell; Jode
Edwards; Shui-Zhang Fei; Thomas Lübberstedt; Laura Merrick; and Deborah
Muenchrath
Description: Originally developed as part of a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Crop Genetics is
the first of many books in an upcoming series originally published
under the title "Plant Breeding E-learning in Africa." The book, adapted
and updated for a broader audience, provides an introduction to genetic
concepts such as reproductive systems, recombination, mutation,
segregation and linkage analysis, inbreeding, quantitative inheritance,
fertility regulation, population genetics and polyploidy.
Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Design
Author: Jacqulyn A. Baughman
Description:
This collection of videos, exercises, and readings align with the
course of the same name at Iowa State University. Students taking the
course are expected to complete a semester-long team-based project based
on addressing societal needs through the development of an engineering
design project. The Pressbook walks through the design process with tips
and exercises along the way.
(I recommend the webbook over the PDF version for this reason)
I hope you find these helpful and that you have an excellent week, all!
Sincerely,
Abbey Elder (she/they) Open Access & Scholarly Communication Librarian
