Good afternoon!
The Iowa Open Education Action Team is pleased to announce the release of our 2022/2023 Annual Report, which contains the results of our annual survey sent out earlier this spring.
The report is a review of OER initiatives across higher education institutions in the state of Iowa, and also includes a summary of the action team’s recent work to support Iowa institutions interested in open education. The full report is attached to this message.
The major outcomes of this year’s report include:
1. Students saved over $5.5 million thanks to the use of open educational resources (OER) across Iowa colleges and universities in 2022/2023.
2. Existing OER initiatives are continuing to grow, but the development of new initiatives is slowing down as colleges find themselves in need of additional support to begin their work.
3. Colleges and universities need time, staff, and support from campus leadership to develop impactful OER programming.
4. Iowa OER will continue to provide opportunities for colleges and universities to collaborate in support of more sustainable and impactful Open Education programming for our communities.
