Hello,
I'm pleased to announce the publication of a new open textbook, Foundations of Special Education (2nd ed.) by Kathleen VanTol, Professor of Education at Dordt University.
This book surveys the provision of special education services to students in grades preK-12 with disabilities. It includes the history of special education, legal issues related to the field of special education, and characteristics of learners who qualify for services. It is intended for use by upper level undergraduate courses and introductory graduate level courses. The first edition has been translated in Spanish. Copies of that text are available from the author upon request.
I invite you to take a look and share with interested colleagues.
The project was published on Manifold. The ability to host and publish on Manifold is a new benefit for institutions that are members of the Open Education Network. (Huge thanks to Anne Marie Gruber of the University of Northern Iowa for encouraging me to investigate Manifold and showing me how it works.)
As a reminder, all Iowa colleges and universities have base-level OEN membership through a statewide agreement. To host and publish on Manifold, institutions will need to level-up their own memberships.
