Good afternoon,
We are pleased to announce the release of our 2022 Iowa OER Report, which contains the results of our annual survey, a review of OER initiatives across the state, and a summary of the action team’s work to support Iowa institutions interested in open education.
The full report is attached to this message, along with a one-page summary of our action team's work to date.
The major outcomes of this year’s report include:
Over $4 million dollars in savings for Iowa college and university students thanks to the use of open educational resources (OER) in 2021.
An increase in the number and variety of programs and institutions supporting open education.
A clear need for additional support and sustainability for OER initiatives, particularly in funding, staffing, and professional development.
Successful collaborations have had a great impact on local initiatives, leading to new grants, a statewide Open Education Network membership for the entire state of Iowa, and projects like the recent Iowa OER Summit.
Please feel free to share the report and handout with your peers and colleagues. Past reports can be accessed through the Iowa OER Toolkit (direct link to Reports folder).
We look forward to collaborating with you and supporting your work as you explore more ways to support open education at your institutions.
Thank you for reading and have an excellent day!
