It’s time again for an Iowa OER webinar! On September 17, 2024 at noon, we will be joined by Will Cross, Director of the Open Knowledge Center at N.C. State University, an instructor at UNC Chapel Hill, Senior Policy Fellow at American University's Washington College of Law, and co-author of the Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for OER.
Open education has tremendous potential to build tailored resources that reflect the diverse experiences of students and support transformative open practices, but only when educators are empowered to draw on the most current and relevant materials. Reliance on copyright exceptions such as fair use and fair dealing is critical for creating the most effective and inclusive materials.
This session will introduce the Code of Best Practice in Fair Use for OER, a guide to reliance on fair use when building OER. Join us for an interactive discussion about the Code and to explore strategies creating and using OER in new ways. You'll leave ready to make fair use a key resource for your open education work.
