Hi there again.

I was wondering if iotope works on Linux.
And if there are linux drivers around for touchatag.
I guess it would be great to run the software and possibilities on a Rasberry Pi
Thats a mini computer that runs on Linux thats eazy to build in a installation.

Thank you

In theory it could work, someone tested it on Ubuntu and thought it worked.

The Rasberry Pi is an unknown for me. It's certainly on my wish list, because of it's price. I'm going to order one in the next weeks, so we'll see.

Hi Alex.

What im working on is this case:
I've made an flash app that can be triggered by iotope.
(on windows it works fine!!!)
I made a table where you can put real life objects on. then it triggers video.
I was wondering if it was possible to use a mini-computer that was cheap to use and would be able to build into the table.
So i thought about the Raspberry Pie. Its cheap and it can run LINUX.
But it doesn't run adobe flash i just found out!
The processor can play video. thats great, but it not strong enough for common tasks.
So i started Googling again. I found the ODROID-X that seems to be great. (please feedback)
It runs android but can also run Ubuntu.
Its also cheap. With the additions its under $220
It can play full HD and its hackable.

I found that Ubuntu can work with touchatag

So here a few questions:
-Do you think running IOTOPE, Java, Flash under Ubuntu is possible under the ODROID-X? (what do you think?)
-I noticed that under linux there is a different open source project going on. tageventor. Are you aware of this and what is the difference whit IOTOPE?
-You are working on a android version of IOTOPE. Is it going to work with the cart readers or the android RFID chip?

Thank you for replying.

Greetings Bob

- I can't give you a definitive answer on the ODROID-X, sorry. I don't have any plans to buy the hardware to try it. It would be great if someone could try it and report back. I'm afraid "flash" is the weakest link for portability. Two reasons I picked Java for IOTOPE is the OpenJDK initiative that ports the virtual machine to a lot of platforms and Java is a language I'm comfortable with. The safest bet will probably be the Rasberry-Pi (but not for flash though...) because it's becoming a popular platform. I'm going to order one, but no promises if it ever will work though...
- I wasn't aware of tageventor. First thing I noticed it the other project is written in native code, while IOTOPE is written in Java making it ideal to port to android and run on different platforms.
- Yes the first release will use the Android internal NFC chips. Someone promised to try to get the Touchatag reader working as an external reader, but I'm still waiting if it work or not.

BTW. Do you have blog or something, so we can follow the progress of your projects? It certainly seems an interesting project! Or if you like to you could send the story, so we can post it on our blog.

Hi Alex,

Of course I'm willing to write something about my project and share the way its working.
I'm still working on it (presentation wise). So i can show it to possible consumers.

But on the technical side i can write something. No problem. Basically its all the information and my questions in these Google groups combined.
Suggestion: Maybe its nice to make two separate group items. Hardware and projects. so people can share their knowledge in these groups.

Greetings Bob

Hi Bob,

I'm not going to split up the group, it's not big enough. But if you have a nice write-up, I'm always happy to repost it on the blog ( http://blog.iotope.com/ ).
