Thanks for the update Eloy.

Maraming cancellations from the last Linux Camp exam event who wants
to take the exam. June would be the best perhaps.

Please advise me on the final date so I can post the announcements sa
iSchools mailing list at least a month before the June exam.

Thanks.

Holden,

If a local org can cover RT economy airfare, cost of exam venue, and courier, IOSN can field an exam in the area.

Cost of exam now is 3000 per.

Hi,

How are you guys :)

I got a question, has anyone experienced with large scale installation
of open source network management system.

Its like using cacti, I was using it for like 100-200 nodes. But this
time I need informations/tips for thousands of nodes.

Thanks.

Hello Anton,
also worth looking at IMHO is Shinken (http://www.shinken-monitoring.org) , a python based Nagios "core", that reportedly scales better.
Not quite ready yet, but "almost".
Best

Thanks Daniel, Eric,

I was asked by my friend, he's following a gov. procurement with specification:
- must be FOSS
- must have ability to export to PDF and such
- agentless (I think this mean other than SNMP agent/client)
- must be able to control 900 or so nodes, and scalable up to around 25000 nodes :)

I think this is for Indonesia education network, monitoring education ministry district offices and schools connected to it

Sorry Anton. I just read your post. :-(

Try Ganglia <http://ganglia.sourceforge.net/> or Monit
<http://mmonit.com/monit/> but I personally haven't tried any of
those. I only tried Munin <http://munin-monitoring.org/> and I'm still
using it. Although, I'm aware that Munin is very CPU and I/O intensive
and I don't think it can scale for thousands of nodes. But Munin is
pretty easy to use and provides my simple requirement to monitor my
instances at the Amazon Web Services.

Regards,

Marvin

anton,

here's another that might fit the bill... although i know it's kind of late, it's one of those tools that i think we all are looking for. it's called Observium (http://www.observium.org) and it's used to monitor a huge number of machines.
