I've been trying to follow procedure for configuring and up-loading to my
personal web-site.....absolutely no go.
Questions as follows:
1. is IDT set up for MS Web publishing wizard
2. if not, my attempts to access site by manual method telnet, then Ftp etc
per the advice on available IDT printout doesn't seem to be working
3. Are there different procedures if using MS Int. Explorer version 4.01?
Would an IDT person please contact and advise.......otherwise for $11US I
can get a 20 mb site somewhere else.....

I don't work for IDT, but I do have my web site there. So.

You use FTP. You connect to idt.net, and change into the public_html
directory, and then upload it.

The other happy thing is that you have to have a premium account. If
you don't have that, you don't have shell access. So if you telnet it
and get the response "you do not have shell access on this server",
you can't put it up.

And if you're paying the $29/month, then you have to call tech support
and have them fix it.

Finally, it's been said time and again: IDT techies do not read this
group and help. Email. Call. Fax. But here, the techs don't read.

(why? Because the techs can't post to news. So we'd have to use our
own accounts. And I didn't want to have anyone who could figure out
how to use a newsreader and an email program contacting my private
account and whining for help with every small glitch and occational
GPF they got. THAT, gentlemen and ladies, is one of the main reasons
IDT Tech Support doesn't monitor the group.)

Nonetheless, IDT does advertise that they offer tech support via news.
Check out http://www.idt.net/dialup/idtcustserv.html where, and I quote,
"A bulletin board with messages posted by other IDT customers, monitored
by tech support staff.". Clicking on the link provided, I read "Our
Technical Support News Group name is ios.general." It certainly SOUNDS
as if IDT is offering tech-support via usenet. It's no wonder a great
number of IDT customers expect (and are then disappointed by)
tech-support here.

(me? I know better. And I'm quite happy with the support via #idtsupport
on IRC. Fast, easy, and usually they know what's going down. But as I
said, new customers might feel cheated that IDT isn't monitoring this
group despite claims to the contrary).
