News server too big to manage? How about (it may not be practicle
but...) read through the entire list of NG on the server. I would say
that a good half of them are really extict or just full of spam. I
mean just spam no real posting or threads of discussion. for example,
alt.mike-grau.sysadm.god why is it there it contains no headers. not
even spam. or alt.sex.pedophile.mike-labbe nothing against pedophiles
or mike labbe but the group has nothing but 300 pieces of spam taking
up a lot of room the spam is not even on topic. Not One binary of the
mentioned pedo or post by him or about him. Who is mike labbe? There
are at least 5 ng that carry his name. It may take one employee about
40 hours to edit the server. I said edit not censor. Maybe you would
squeeze out 50-100 Gig that could go to retention for more that 4
days.
And please ADD the group alt.binaries.blackcat-scans.

I don't frequent this newsgroup that often, but I was thinking the same
thing, it might increase performance somewhat when downloading news
articles. Performance in general has taken a turn for the worse, albeit
gradually. I will stick with IDT for a little while longer...

Sadly, I have to find myself in agreement with this.

Several weeks ago there was some communication with Byron Miller, who
said that IDT was aware of this problem, and was taking steps to correct it.
Since then I have not seen any significant improvement, nor heard anything
from IDT as to what they discovered, or are doing to resolve this.

There is also the dialup issue. My personal experience pretty much mirrors
what I have read posted here by other users. It seems IDT is having
difficulty providing stable 56k connections.

The point? Well, an update would be nice, and some visible progress.

I'm beginning to suspect that these are significant problems for IDT, and will
require an investment of time and money to correct. I'm also beginning to
wonder if management is unwilling, or unable to provide the investment
required in order for the tech people to do their jobs?
