After weeks of trying to get my Zoom V.34XPlus 33.6 modem properly
installed, I think I am almost there. FOR THOSE OF YOU EVEN NEWBIER THAN
I...Mark the CREATE LOG box in the modem area of the control panel, then
look UNDER all the folders in WINDOWS file and you will find a file
called "modem log." Click it and you will learn alot more than you know
now.
I have a few questions still. Someone give me their best guesses as to
these questions please.
Why, if the internet is like a freeway, can I get 31.2K at rush hour
and 26.4K in the dead middle of the night?? (2 a.m.)
I finally, through trial and error, got Win 95 to recognize my specific
modem which is a V.34 External 33.6 model 2836 after I downloaded a file
from the Zoom sight, but the driver is still listed as comm. drv.
Should't it also
have an updated driver to get the most out of the modem?????
I have a list of 5 ini strings a guy from Zoom sent me. If I enter one
of them
in the additional settings box, how much trouble will it be to get back
to current settings in the event of things getting worse???
How, specifically, do I get into and out of modem terminal mode???
Anyone who has this exact modem, I would love to compare notes with you.
