Hello,
We recently purchased a new computer that has 56K capabilities however
we are still connecting at a 36000 speed. I was told that IDT is 56K
compatible however, after doing many phone line tests, it seems that our
phone line will only connect at this speed. According to Bell Atlantic,
they only have to guarantee a voice clear line. A lot of good that does
me with my new computer! What a scam with these 56K modems, they don't
give you this information on the box!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not interested in a DSL or ISDN
connection.
Will consider changing our ISP to Bell Atlantic if they guarantee a 56K
connection. Still waiting for a response from them.
Any information you could provide would be very helpful!

You may want to check 56k.com or http://808hi.com/56k/index.htm to
find out more disappointing news on 56k modems. The phone companies do not
have to support 56k connections so it is an up hill battle to have them help
