-About the Position:
The successful candidate will undertake their PhD within one of the research lines of the project and will be based at SPAT. The funding scheme includes provisions for research stays of 3-6 months or more at other prestigious institutions, potentially in Italy, Finland, or the United Kingdom.
-Project Overview:
The project associated with the offered PhD position, titled "Spatial Audio and Array Processing for Industrial Applications and Digital Transformation: Machine Monitoring and Algorithms," has recently received approval with honors and full funding under a prestigious program. This project involves collaboration with three other academic institutions: Politechnical University of Valencia (UPV), Informatics Technological Institute of Valencia (ITI), and Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), each contributing corresponding subprojects.
-Thesis Focus:
The proposed thesis will explore various deep learning algorithms and intelligent systems to address different types of spatial audio tasks. The primary objective is to identify and characterize sound events in highly challenging and diverse environments and situations. Specific objectives and intended outcomes will be tailored to the candidate's background and interests. Candidates are expected to have a solid foundation in mathematics, signal processing, and programming skills. Prior experience in any aspect of machine learning/signal processing will be highly valued.
