Broken NGDC catalog/registry link for SOS services on catalog.ioos.us

I've been trying to see what NGDC metadata entries look like for IOOS SOS services registered http://catalog.ioos.us. I've tried 3 so far (from RA's), and the NGDC link always leads to a blank page (no error message, just blank).

For example, for the NANOOS SOS:
http://catalog.ioos.us/services/52603ace8c0db35c6a0855bb

The Source Metadata URL is:
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geoportal/csw?getxml={DEFB6BEC-B570-41C0-9297-4050B4136D25}

That's a blank page. But when I went to the NGDC GeoPortal directly, I found the NANOOS SOS entry:
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geoportal/catalog/search/resource/details.page?uuid={9BE754F6-F475-4A4A-98AA-BC3E913B84B9}

and there's a working link there to an XML ISO metadata record:
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geoportal/rest/document?id={9BE754F6-F475-4A4A-98AA-BC3E913B84B9}

The requests and the uuid's are different.

I know catalog.ioos.us is not even beta, but it'd be nice to have links like these work, specially if there's nothing wrong at the other end (NGDC GeoPortal).

I am not sure what populated the records to have those Source Metadata URLs, but thanks for the corrected ones, I will update when I have a chance, and make sure our automated updates are getting correct URLs for that field.

I current iteration of the IOOS catalog doesn't update the Source Metadata URL on each harvest from GeoPortal.  I think I assumed that the UUIDs in GeoPortal would remain fairly static, but as this shows, they can change!

Hi Emilio,

I'm including the ioos.c...@noaa.gov list in response.  Anna Milan at NGDC is responsible for assigning those UUIDs.  We've had some problems with Geoportal recently that has resulted in what you're seeing (empty page).  I don't understand the cause but hopefully Anna can explain.  This issue is unrelated to UUIDs.

At some point in the recent past there was a restructuring of the Geoportal harvesting process and as a result there were new UUIDs generated for many resources, (all?).  Either way, the assumption that UUIDs are static is probably not a safe one, though we hope that will be true in the future. 

Note, this conversation may end up getting fragmented as not everyone on the ioostech_dev list is on ioos.catalog and vice versa.  ioos.catalog is the better place for this conversation.  Hopefully, we can utilitze the github repository and issue tracker more than email in the future (github.com/ioos/catalog).  However, even that isn't perfect because the machinery for marvesting and managing metadata in the Service Registry (the NGDC part) isn't managed in that repo.

Thanks everyone. ioostech_dev was just the best list I could think of.

BTW, now that I found what I was looking for at the NGDC GeoPortal directly, I'm good with my immediate need. Still, it'd be helpful to have that metadata link be updated at catalog.ioos.us
