Hello all, the NASA Earth Science Division released three new funding opportunities that may be of interest. Below is some brief information about the solicitations, please follow the links for more detailed information.

A.13 Accelerating Earth Solutions: A new NASA Earth Action program that explicitly funds the early, exploratory work and supports building relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial decision-makers; understanding their real challenges; and figuring out whether and how your data or methods could help.

The Needs and Opportunities sub-element in particular is built for PIs new to applied/actionable science.

• Engage directly with potential end-users to understand their decision-making challenges
• Identify the right partner organizations and networks
• Assess whether they're ready and able to adopt an Earth-data-driven solution
• Co-design and test the feasibility of solution concepts—before committing to full-scale tool development

It's a low-barrier entry point into applied science, with dedicated time and budget for stakeholder engagement. Topics can touch on agriculture, disasters, natural resources, health & air quality, water, wildland fire, energy, or infrastructure (cross-cutting welcome), with priority given to U.S.-focused work.

Proposals due October 15, 2026.

A.14 Atmosphere Research Program: Supports research on atmospheric composition and structure changes affecting air quality, weather, and critical constituents, including ozone, aerosols, clouds, radiation budget, and atmospheric dynamics.

Through this call, the Atmosphere research program is soliciting proposals for data analysis and modeling of NASA-supported airborne campaign data. The use of NASA sponsored sub-orbital data to answer the atmospheric science questions from Section 1 is required. Preference will be given to proposals that 1) utilize the integrated observational strategy by also using satellite remote sensing data and/or ground-based observations and/or modeling and/or 2) include multiple field investigations holistically to answer the Atmospheric Science questions from Section 1. Primarily using space-based remote sensing data without the use of NASA-supported airborne campaign data is deemed unresponsive and will be returned without review.

Mandatory NOI due August 20,2026, full proposals due October 20, 2026.

A.15 Biosphere: Supports research that provides foundational knowledge on interactions between and within terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, along with changes to their biogeochemistry and biodiversity. In doing so, it leverages the unique vantage point of space. Programmatically, Biosphere includes four research areas (subelements): Biological Diversity, Land Cover and Land Use Change, Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry, and Terrestrial Ecology. 

Proposals may be submitted to any of the six subelements. However, each proposal must focus on only one subelement, and investigators will be asked to indicate to which subelement they are proposing on the cover page of their proposal. Investigators may submit more than one proposal.

Step 1 due September 4, 2026, full proposals due November 6, 2026.
