I thought this conversation might be of interest to the ocean observing community. Not sure how many folks are using UAVs, but it could be a reference point for alignment on data standards. I haven't dug into the documentation they've provided, so it could also not be relevant.

Hello All! I am working on a project to establish a dataset standard for animal ecology drone datasets. This is in collaboration with the WildDrone consortium - we realized it was challenging to share and reuse our datasets across computer science, robotics, and animal ecology projects and wanted to establish a common standard to make the datasets FAIR, AI-ready, and compliant with established standards (ie DarwinCore).

Here is our documentation: https://github.com/Imageomics/fair_drones
Preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/2606.00355

Has anyone else encountered issues sharing drone datasets? I would particularly welcome feedback from the Machine Observation working group.

Thank you,
Jenna Kline
