FYI.  This topic came up during our DMAC 'office hours' webinar last month.  Below is an official notice about the discontinuation of two NOAA nautical charting web services that some of the RAs or others in the community might be using for background maps in geospatial web applications.

There is a replacement service provided by an Esri ArcGIS service that is based on the ENC chart standard.

As part of the sunset process for NOAA Traditional Charts we will be discontinuing our RNC Tile service on October 1, 2021 and the seamless RNC on January 1st, 2022.  

As a replacement service for charting products we are asking our users to switch over the the ENC Viewer

NOAA Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) Online Viewer

The NOAA ENC Online viewer provides features that can be leveraged in various GIS and OGC WMS compliant applications. ENC Online highlights many of the following features.

Users who want to display NOAA ENC Online as a backdrop for GIS applications should use:

Esri REST Service
OGC WMS 1.3 Compatible

Please note that certain functionality, such as identify and search, may not be supported by other GIS applications.
