Hi all,

This session was extremely valuable in that it shared a resource I wasn't aware of. The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) has a really nice Maps API to visualize species occurrence data hosted on the platform (which is a fundamental part of our Marine Life Data Network data flow). The API provides tiled web maps primarily intended for display on websites, making it straightforward to visualize GBIF content on interactive maps and overlay content from multiple sources.

If you're looking to make pretty maps of occurrences, this could be a resource of interest to you. Checkout this demo of all the GBIF data on a map. Below is an example call to the API for all occurrences associated with the NOAA Integrated Ocean Observing System Publisher in GBIF.

Checkout the recording below for more information and a demonstration of how to use it.

Thanks,

Matt
