Good morning, NEAP Community!

We are proud to announce the publication of a new web page: The California Current Ocean Assessment Status Takeaways (C-COAST) 2026-27 El Niño and Marine Heatwave Update page. 

The new page, structured similarly to the popular "Blobtracker", aims to be a primary source of information for proactive fishery management as the California Current endures another summer marine heatwave and prepares for incoming El Niño conditions later this fall. This site also compiles multiple resources from across NOAA to provide a "one stop shop" of near real-time data, FAQs, and web content pertaining to changing ecosystem conditions from marine heatwaves and El Niño. 

Currently, the web page content will be updated on a monthly basis, but will likely increase in frequency as El Niño approaches and moves up the West Coast. 

🌟A big thank you and congratulations to all of the NW and SWFSC researchers and communications peronnel who contributed their time and effort to create this web page quickly in order to address the rising concerns around the impacts of El Niño on our living marine resources. 🌟

Please feel free to distribute this new web page to anyone who may be interested in tracking the impacts of the current marine heatwave and impending El Niño on the California Current ecosystem.
