Good news everyone,
We are extending the application deadline for the Marine Biodiversity Data Mobilization Workshop! You now have until September 30, 2025 to apply.
Join us for this hands-on, interactive, virtual workshop focused on mobilizing marine biodiversity observation datasets to the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS). This workshop is a contribution to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the Marine Life 2030 Decade Action, and is jointly hosted by CIOOS, Hakai, IOOS, MBON, OBIS-USA, and OTN.
The primary objective of the workshop is helping data providers standardize their data according to Darwin Core. This includes species observations from any type of sampling methodologies (e.g., visual surveys, net tows, microscopy, fish trawls, imaging, ‘omics, acoustics, telemetry). The workshop will be held virtually November 4 - 6, 2025 from 1300 - 1700 ET. Further details about the workshop can be found on the workshop website here.
Given the setup of the workshop, participants must come prepared with their own dataset to work on.
To apply, please fill out this form. Please forward to colleagues who may be interested in this event.
Kind regards,
The Standardizing Marine Biological Data Working Group
