Hello IOOS DMAC community,

Please join us on Thursday, August 27 (TOMORROW) at 3 pm Eastern for this month's IOOS DMAC Tech Webinar on the MMI Ontology Registry and Repository.

Do you need to look up a word to use in your metadata? Or maybe you created a metadata vocabulary, but want to save and share it? If only we had an authoritative web resource to track marine vocabularies and their terms… About two decades ago, NSF and NOAA helped start up such a resource, the MMI Ontology Registry and Repository. Still maintained by volunteers at https://mmisw.org,  this resource captures and presents community knowledge—but needs a plan to assure the future of that knowledge.

John Graybeal, past and present MMI project leader, will describe MMI, its status, and possible futures, including what could become of its semantic heritage, as part of an IOOS discussion of their needs and goals. Please come with your questions and perspectives on the way(s) forward.
