The National Data Buoy Center will be performing an Internet Service
Provider Switchover tomorrow 8/3 from 9-13z. During this time data
from our DODS/THREDDS/SDF servers which includes all of our NetCDF
files will be unavailable.

Date: 8/2/10
Time: 8/3/10 0900-1300Z
Duration: 4 hours.
Reason: Switching ISP.
Expected Impact: THREDDS servers. See below.

Hi Walt,
Thanks for the notice. I still cannot get to the TDS (http://
sdf.ndbc.noaa.gov:8080/thredds) several hours later. Are there
lingering problems?
Thanks,
John

P.S. I would switch over to the UCSD/CORDC HFRNET (http://
hfrnet.ucsd.edu:8080/thredds) in the meantime, but the Hawaii stations
are apparently not included there yet.

Hi John:

Looks like the :8080 is no longer used; at least the link below works
w/o the :8080 but times-out with it.

Jim and John,

I just gave the TDS server a try here, and everything seems to work fine
with and without :8080. It might have been a issue with the firewall
rules that didn't get worked out until now. However, I am going to
forward your email to our I.T. team to ensure that we still do not have
a problem.

All,

Our new Internet Provider had port 8080 blocked, it should be open now.
Feel free to let me know if there are any more issues accessing data
from NDBC.

Thanks,
Walt

My preference would be that all ports be proxied so that they do not appear in the URL.

Thanks, Walt. Also, any chance you can turn on NetCDF Subset Service and WMS; these are already available in the CORDC TDS and probably just need to be enabled on your TDS. Also, I like the Summary and link to HFRNet Documentation on the CORDC TDS to help give the novice user a better idea of what they're looking at. In general, more THREDDS catalog/"digital library" metadata here would be useful, I think. It would also be nifty to provide an additional "viewer" link to either the NDBC or CORDC Google Map viewer for these data.
Cheers,
John
