WHY LOCAL GOVERNMENT MATTERS

Starts 3 May, 7 – 8.30 pm, 4 Mondays, gold coin donation

On 11 October 2010, the local government elections will be held for
our local mayors, councillors and district health board members. This
series of seminars examines how local government works and provides
information for those people who may be thinking about voting or even
standing for election. It also covers many of the major issues that
our local councils deal with regularly. The series will be facilitated
by Dr Jean Drage who teaches local government and politics in the
Politics programme at Canterbury University and believes that local
government is an essential part of our communities.
