I have never been sure whether we have BSF in Uganda.
Did you check your information with any entomologist
in Uganda?

I am going to follow this up with entomologists
on Monday so that we know where we are starting from.

Dear Charles

This will be useful. Neal has provided several url links. You will also find photo galleries at www.iobbnet.org/drupal

I am with a delegation of East Africans (and others) who will host the World Championship in Cooperation . In particular  the deputy Mayor of Kampala and its city minister for gender community development, youth, children, elderly....etc. Also the Mayor of Mukono whom we met when I visited you in Mukono.

Deputy Mayor brought up the issue of urgent needs to improve the situation of Kampala's muncipal waste management system. I have initiated some basic discussions with the Mayor of Mukono who is a pro-action person on identifying a small community in Mukono that could be involved through a MSI conceptual project proposal. An idea is to develop community activities that can demonstrate SWM with other components for an IBS to use under-utilised or intermediate by products. Also the Mayor said that one of the community members have 10 acres of (private) land that is currently partially used as a banana plantation. It should be possible to use some of this land for the project (to be confirmed) where the owner will be the future beneficiary. In the next few days, I will be with the Mayor in the north of Sweden and will discuss further details related to partnerships (and also on the involvement of a local NGO.

I will need more information from you and from Cornelius on your intentions regarding your MSI proposal(s) as it is ideal to integrate (if possible) the Mukono village (community) into your proposal. The lessons learnt from Cameroon on pig farming are applicable to this community too.

regards
jacky
