Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, World Environment Day has been held on the same date every year and gained an ever-growing list of participating countries.
The World Environment Day 2011 theme is Forests: Nature at Your Service. The purpose of this theme is to see that special importance is given to forests by different countries. In fact, this is the reason why the United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests.
Let us take a pledge on the occasion of the World Environment Day to value the intrinsic worth and diversity of nature; protect, promote, and support life styles that enrich both cultural diversities and moderations of wants based on ecologically sustainable principles growth and development.
My pledge is to contribute to the sustainable use of the earth's resources to reduce the impact of climate change from my actions and for that:
Ecologically yours
